FAQ

Do you provide design services?
Yes, our experienced design team can provide fully engineered, custom-designed light gauge steel framing solutions that is required for your project. We aim to work collaboratively with Client to identify best for project solutions and explore cost-efficient alternatives. At Client’s request, we can supply design certification and proof engineering services.
How much do steel house frames cost?
Considering full construction cycle and current market conditions, ARQTEK™ Light Gauge Steel Framing Systems have proven to be the most cost-efficient option for housing and light residential projects even cheaper than timber framing. On average, ARQTEK™ Light Gauge Steel Framing Systems will allow a cost saving approximately 10% to 20% compared with timber framing.
What are the advantages for construction building with ARQTEK™ Light Gauge Steel Framing Systems?
ARQTEK™ steel frames are engineered and manufactured under strict Quality control and tolerances ensuring precise dimensions, straightness, and accuracy. To facilitate the on-site installation the steel framing kit is prefabricated and transported to site pre-assembled. The pre-assembly allows significant time savings and fast installation. Builders and tradespeople have attested the benefits of steel's lightweight nature, on-site efficiency and waste reductions.
Can ARQTEK™ Steel framing be self-installed?
Absolutely. Our frames and trusses are designed for customer installation. Panels are conveniently labelled for assembly, featuring pre-punched service holes for electrical and plumbing. Roof trusses are clearly identified and easily secured to support walls, while ceiling and roof battens can be effortlessly fixed to the trusses.
How long does it take to install?
Depending on the project size and complexity, installation of light gauge steel framing varies from days to weeks. As an example, for a medium single story residential house ARQTEK™ steel framing is installed within 1 to 2 weeks’ timeframe.
Is ARQTEK™ structural framing Termite-proof?
In Australia, numerous homes suffer damage from termites and borers annually, often undetectable to the naked eye. Remediation of such damage can be costly and may not be covered by insurance. Opting for ARQTEK™ steel framing, which is 100% termite and borer proof, eliminates completely the Termite damage risk.
Why should I switch from Wood To Steel?
Opting for prefabricated light gauge steel translates to significant efficiency gains in both the design phase and on-site implementation. The system is remarkably intuitive and requires fewer trade skills to manage and install compared to wood frames.
Will ARQTEK™ Light Gauge Steel Rust?
ARQTEK™ is using hot-dipped Aluminium/Zinc/Magnesium alloy-coated structural steel which is an advanced surface passivation anti-corrosion treatment specifically designed to prevent rusting.
Do you work with private customers?
Yes. Although we mainly work with builders, we are happy to support private customers in realizing their vision and projects.
I've heard that Steel Frames are constructed from thin Steel. How can I be sure they'll be sufficiently strong?
The characteristics of steel are well-established and consistent, adhering to Australian Standards or equivalents. Steel framing components are engineered and designed based on these properties and applying design requirements and verification to guarantee the strength and robustness requirements are met. Contemporary systems often utilize high tensile steel components with suitable jointing techniques engineered to surpass rigorous normative requirements.
What’s the degree of flexibility in design when using ARQTEK™ structural framing?
With ARQTEK™, the customization possibilities with steel are virtually limitless, allowing us to manufacture nearly any home design you desire. Steel's strength, lightness, and straightness make it ideal for supporting both single and multi-storey designs effortlessly. Don't settle for compromises with other building materials—ARQTEK™ can develop technically sound and aesthetically pleasant solutions meeting most demanding structural requirements.
